JOHNNY CASH’S REJECTED JAMES BOND MOVIE THEME

It was 1965 and country singer Johnny Cash was the unlikely original choice to do the theme song for the upcoming latest JAMES BOND epic film THUNDERBALL. But, the story runs even deeper, it turns out that Dionne Warwick was first turned down for her song, “Mr. Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang”, which was rejected because it didn’t use the title of the movie in song. Johnny Cash’s unlikely song was then considered, but it was considered to be too country western for some tastes, so it was also rejected as well. Finally, the 22 year old Welsh singer Tom Jones was given a chance at the title track. The rest is history….
