Donald Trump’s impressive win in the Nevada caucus should send even more shivers through the Republican establishment as the drop-out of more candidates including Jeb Bush seems to have done little to slow his drive to win the GOP nomination. At this writing, Trump had 45.0% of Nevada votes compared to Rubio far behind at 24.5%, Cruz at 20.5%, Carson at 5.9% and Kasich at 4.0%. It had been argued that Trump had a low ceiling of support, usually no higher than about 35% of voters, where it was argued that 65% of Republican voters might find Trump unacceptable, and if some candidates withdraw, that either Rubio or Cruz could win. Tonight only proved that Trump could now garner about 50% of all votes with four other candidates running. Trump raised his ceiling of support, and now appears to be nearly unstoppable as a lock for the nomination.
Meanwhile, it was reported that Jeb Bush had spent $130 million on his failed White House bid, garnering just 4 delegates before suspending his campaign.
