I, FRANKENSTEIN translated into a quick box office failure this weekend with a dismal six place opening and a gross of just $8.3 million for the movie which cost $65 million to produce. Not only was that bad news, but a survey of critics on Rotten Tomatoes gave the film a dismal 5% approval rating, although audiences tended to like the film much more than the critics. – Critics pointed out that bad film tended to take itself way too seriously and lacked any humor, as well as other serious shortcomings. But, critics pointed out that Aaron Eckhart made a very poor Frankenstein’s monster, playing Adam Frankenstein. The poorly received film was from the creators of the UNDERWORLD series, which has been far more successful than this bizarre reboot of the old Mary Shelley book based FRANKENSTEIN story.
