The recent controversy over the treatment of orca whales at SeaWorld that were detailed in the CNN documentary, “Black Fish”, which aired in October, has created a wave of performers who are now refusing to play the water park. Heart has now joined a growing line of performers that include Willie Nelson and Barenaked Ladies. The drummer for Motley Crue, Tommy Lee has requested the park not to play any of the band’s music during events as musicians hop on the bandwagon to protest what they believe to be poor treatment of the orca whales at the sea park.
Since August, the SeaWorld company, which owns several of these water parks has witnessed attendance declines, which have probably only been made worse since the October CNN documentary. SeaWorld stock has also hit a real low since August as well. Ticket prices have been reduced to lure customers back, starting last Summer.
Since the 1970’s, the Northwest oriented rock band Heart has been a major force as a classic rock act, headed by the Wilson sisters, Ann and Nancy.
