Margaret Pellegrini was one of the last three remaining munchkins from the 1939 classic film, THE WIZARD OF OZ. She died at the age of 89, leaving just 2 out of the original 124 munchkins as survivors. Pellegrini was a celebrity because of her WIZARD OF OZ fame and used to dress in costume for events and speak at grade schools and other events. She was a beloved local figure. She suffered a stroke Monday in her Glendale, Arizona home, but later died in a Phoenix hospital from complications of that stroke. A local movie theater was often used for guest appearance by Pellegrini and other surviving original munchkins, and it was the owner of this theater who broke the sad news of the passing of another munchkin.
