John Anderson’s “Swingin’” Turns 30

John Anderson Swingin’ 2013  –  Country star John Anderson celebrates 30 years since his mega-hit “Swingin’”. The Florida-born John Anderson was once a roofer working on the Grand Ole Opry building and begged for the opportunity to audition to sing inside the building. The result was that he became a star, and one of his biggest hits by far was the 1983 rock flavored country song “Swingin’”,  which even got some crossover radio play on some rock stations as well. His backwoodsy voice was sometimes compared to Levon Helm of The Band, but his unique style of some hard country rockin’ songs and soft ballads, done in his unique vocal style became fan favorites for more than three decades now. Not a bad run for the roofer who just asked for a chance to sing. For 2013, John Anderson did a reboot of his great hit, mixing it with a country hip hop flavor as well.  The song has found it’s way into the film, SUPER ZEROES as well. John Anderson  reprises his song while fellow country star, Colt Ford, proves he can rap with the best of them. Not a bad effort here! – BTW in 1983,  ”Swingin’” made it to #1 on the country charts, and to #43 on the BILLBOARD HOT 100 charts, proving what a great hit this song was.
