Catholic Priest Becomes Meth Dealing Porn Shop Owner

File this under major league WTF!, but Monsignor Kevin Wallin, 61, of Hartford, CT, has now plead guilty to federal drug charges in connection with a meth distributing business scheme in which he laundered this drug income by buying a porn shop in New Haven that sold sex videos and sex toys.

Monsignor Kevin Wallin was actually a parish priest at St. Augustine’s in Bridgeport as late as 2011, but then asked to resign to go on a sabbatical for “health and personal reasons’, and then apparently devoted his time to becoming a meth dealer. And after his income from the illegal drug distribution business grew so large, he decided to buy the adult video and sex toy business to launder his drug money so as to not tip off others that he was enjoying a drug dealer’s income. But, the whole scheme eventually collapsed, and now Monsignor Kevin Wallin has pled guilty to federal drug charges through his public defender lawyer, and could face between 10 years to life in prison, although 11-13 years appears to be what prosecutors are looking for.

And if Wallin’s problems aren’t bad enough, he could even be removed as a priest by the Vatican as well. What? And lose a fine priest like this? What are they thinking at the Vatican?

In church they used to have an old hymn about being being able to tell Christians by “their love”. Well, now it also seems that you can also tell them by their criminal mugshots as well.

And you could fault the Monsignor for maybe trying to do too many things. He should have just concentrated on one thing. Trying to be a Catholic priest, a meth dealer and run a sex toy store is just too much for one person. Trying to be a “jack of all trades, but master of none” is usually never good.

I guess you could say this was just another story about saints and sinners?
