A Gay Sex Scandal For The Westboro Baptist Church?

A brand new book by a banished former member of the cult-church, The Westboro Baptist Church, which pickets funerals of dead servicemembers, claims that the church’s leader, Fred Phelps, might have been involved in a gay sexual situation at one time. It’s a bombshell accusation for the church that claims that America’s war dead are a punishment from God for allowing gay rights.

The new book by former church member, Lauren Drain, 27, suggests that Fred Phelps might have had some sort of gay sexual experience while in the Boy Scouts, and later felt remorse about the event, and turned violently antigay as a result. In some cases, such as the case of Anita Bryant, those most opposed to gay rights might be doing so because they express remorse about some gay sexual experience or relationship that they were once involved in. Some people turn self-hating because of their own backgrounds, such as Adolf Hitler that resented that he was part Jewish, and even had his father’s own cemetery destroyed by tank fire to hide the fact that he was part Jewish.

Lauren Drain has now raised some new questions about this highly controversial church leader. How will Fred Phelps answer the new questions that this book raises about his own sexuality or prior sexual experiences?

If the Westboro Baptist Church wasn’t controversial enough, this new book now makes this cult look much more controversial, and casts a new shadow over it’s leader, Fred Phelps to answer to.

But this? It’s funny… and not at all surprising.

    • Their 15 minutes of fame(read: shame) has lasted far too long in my view. Maybe this book ignites enough controversy that this one-man personality cult run by Phelps iron hand finally closes up tent and hits the road.
My family has a very long military history, and I resent their attempts to picket the funerals of our fallen servicemen. It was a proud moment for our family when we given the military flag for my father’s service in Korea during his funeral. I would have blown a gasket big time if Westboro would have disgraced my father’s funeral. I gave most of the eulogy for my father at his gravesite. But, I feel deeply sorry for other military families that had to put up with this Westboro nonsense.
