Clive Burr the drummer for the hard rock band, Iron Maiden, has died at the age of 56. He had been suffering from MS, and his health had been declining health, that by some reports, had left him often wheelchair bound in recent years. ROLLING STONE had praised Burr as a great drummer who brought the “speed” of punk rock to the heavy metal band, becoming a major part of the band’s sound.
Burr joined the band in 1979, but by 1982, it was his last outing with the band as his health problems started to interfere with his musical skills.
Burr apparently died peacefully in his sleep. But, his fellow band members were deeply sad about his passing, as Clive Burr was one of the finest of the heavy metal drummers of his era.
