Is There More to Real Steel then Jackman’s Awesome Body and Gorgeous Heart-Melting Eyes?
The short answer is yes.
Hugh Jackman is in another movie and before you go to watch it just for his amazing body and eyes, you might want to actually find out about the rest of the movie. The movie is called Real Steel, and it’s set to be released in the US on October 7, 2011 and a week after in Britain. The plot centers on Charlie, Jackman’s character, who was a champion boxer (this is mentioned in the trailer) and exists in the underground circuit of the new boxing world. The boxing world has been taking over by huge boxing robots. Charlie also has an 11-year-old son, Max; who he gains temporary custody of. It’s at this time that he purchases a boxing robot called, Noisy Boy, and Charlie hopes Noisy Boy is his big boxing break. The movie is about the father and son coming together and about huge robots violently boxing and fighting.
Move Over Jackman, for Big Sexy Violent Robots
Perhaps, Jackman won’t be too loveable for this film, because big parts of it are taken over by large, awesome robots. The design and technology behind these robots seems more than enough to get people to actually come to the movie. Here are a couple of cool facts about the robots used in the film’s creation.
Going for Warmer Americana Feel
Shaun Levy, the film’s producer, is trying to go for a little warmer Americana feel in the movie. He will probably get it with Hugh Jackman and his 11 year old son trying to rebuild their relationship. The big question is how this will fit in with the gritty technology Metallica created with the massive boxing robots. The American 1960’s look emphasizes the theme given to many of the characters by staging their location in junk yards and at state fairs. The warm-toned colors also feed the warm feelings that the producer wanted to create with the whole father-son connection in the story.
Will Jackman Be Able to Compete With His Robotic Counterparts
Jackman has shown he can be a rough on the outside kind of character with a deep caring inside; he did it with Wolverine. However, the warm tendencies of the movie aren’t going to be why people go to watch this film. They want to see the amazing robot fighting scenes. So, Real Steel may give Jackman a chance to show off his warm and beating heart, but the men who will actually take this film to the finish line are the robots. They are the ones with hearts of steel.
