TWO AND A HALF MEN Revamps With Monster Ratings, But Horrible Reviews

Maybe CBS and Chuck Lorre ought to beg Charlie Sheen to come back. Last night’s premiere without Charlie Sheen may have drawn huge ratings, but the show was a critical failure and audiences only groaned across the country. The 27 million viewers for last night’s program in which we discover that the wacky Rose murdered Charlie Harper outraged viewers who were unhappy that the goofy Rose went from off-the-wall to being an outright killer. In addition, the storyline that Ashton Kutcher was a suicidal billionaire who just happened to purchase Charlie Harper’s beach front home at a whim seem more than contrived and also was a terrible storyline as well. How can this series possibly keep up the ratings this season.

Everyone in the U.S., including probably Charlie Sheen, had to watch last night. But, it’s highly doubtful they will continue to watch this mess which seemed to really jump the shark last night.

Chuck Lorre and the crew of writers and producers had all Summer to write this show. And last night’s fiasco sure didn’t showcase that effort very well. It was a major league disappointment clearly out-shined by the better writing of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER and TWO BROKE GIRLS.

TWO AND HALF MEN is in clear trouble unless it can get back to it’s winning formula. But that’s impossible without Charlie Sheen in the cast. He was perfect in this show, and clearly missed last night.

  • I actually watched Two and a Half Men last night (and I’m not a fan of the show to begin with). Ashton was nude more than he was funny in the show. Maybe they are counting on his nakedness for ratings?

They did make sure they killed Charlie off for good though. He was pushed (or as Rose said he fell) in front of a train and was mutilated so that his body couldn’t be viewed. Then he was cremated. Then when Ashton showed up his ashes were dropped all over the apartment. THEN he was vacuumed up with a dust-buster. I thought they REALLY went out of their way to make sure he was good and killed off.  But we all know that doesn’t mean they can’t bring him back somehow if Sheen and Lorre kiss and make-up some how.

    • The character reactions to Charlie’s death were totally far-fetched and not believable – even the actors seemed to know that what they were doing was totally out of character. Come on, Bertha, Alan, his mum and especially Chelsea wouldn’t make fun of him had he just died a horrible death like that… morbid storyline – with fake canned audience laughter… Embarrassing for the whole cast ! the script was about as convincing as George Bush as president… painful to watch the cast having to play sooo out of character… their reactions to Charlie’s death were a cringe festival of note!! An insult to the fans and viewers… i hope they discontinue this terrible patchwork of a show!! waiting for charlie’s anger management show now… Lorre’s obviously trying to hurt Charlie Sheen with the ridiculously unrealistic script to 9.1…. and all he achieves is alienating both the fans and the cast. Charlie’s death…was like Mr.Lorre’s sick wishful thinking… – slightly out of character for the ‘8year stalker’ Rose.. she’d drug him or kidnap him or tie him up or whatever â?? but murder him????? Nobody cares that Rose obviously pushed him in front of a train??? sure … it’s like all the actors were ordered to ‘poo’ on 8 years of great acting … what a disaster… Charlie Sheen has a couple of divorces, drug abuse & being fired from his job etc. to blame for his behavior… what reason does Chuck Lorre have to write a season 9.1 script that contradicts 8 years of 2.5men?? So unprofessional!!! Thumbs down… Season 9 is a blatant slap in the face, not to Charlie Sheen, but to the audience!!!

Hi Liz, that show sure “jumped the shark” last night. Maybe it’ time for Charlie Harper’s identical twin brother to make an appearance on the show. Regardless, it was just a little bit short of pathetic in my view. I doubt the show now lasts more than one or two more seasons before it gets the plug pulled. It will all be downhill from here. At least SEINFELD left while they  were still on top. Without their star, this show can’t last.

I thought it was funny – and contrived, yeah, but how else would you have written it? a lot of fireworks, sure, but to say it’s not the same without Sheen is simply stating the obvious.  It was – will be – different.  Just how good is yet to be seen.  I think Cryer’s Alan will have a greater chance to shine, and the supporting cast will carry it along until Kutcher beds in.  I thought the potential for a different, but still appealing show was clearly there.  Change will certainly be difficult for some viewers to deal with – but come on, give it a chance – I think it may surprise us all.  For those who fear/loathe change, you’ll always have the re-runs.  As for the resurrection some pray for, it’s a screenplay, guys, not the bible.

I watched it for the first time ever last night, and was moderately entertained. But I really, really had to cheer at the cameos by the prospective buyers, especially that couple — the new-agey blonde and the uptight lawyer type. Man, they seemed familiar. Oh, and the guy who delivered the ashes? My, how he’s fallen from his previous employment…

Considering the following, I really think Charlie IS a “WINNER”

Charlie Sheen will immediately get $25 million in his settlement with Warner Bros. in his “Two and a Half Men” dispute — but over time he’ll get 5 times that amount … TMZ has learned.

    Sources
connected with the settlement tell TMZ … Charlie will get the $25 mil
in about two weeks and, as we reported, the sum represents the monies owed him for the work he already performed on the series and the profits that have already accrued.

    But
Charlie has shot around 180 episodes for the show, and in the next 7 –
10 years, the settlement will produce $100 million for the actor in
    syndication profits.

Not bad when you don’t have to show up for work.

    “WINNER”

I think NBC would have been better off firing Chuck Lorrie and keeping Charlie around to make even MORE money for the Network.  “LOOOOOOOSERS”

A very stilted, unfunny and almost cringe-worthy show and while it is the first show, I don’t see how it could ever recapture  the chemistry that Charlie had with the cast. Kutcher is to acting as white bread is to fine dining and just can’t pull this off. Nice eye candy I guess for some women but he’s good looking in a very non-sexy way. Shades of Micheal Kelso, just older. The storyline was awful and for any writer to find a stalker turned killer hilarious is beyond belief. Stupid story and no animation or chemistry from Kutcher. I’ll be watching reruns of old episodes and hope that they bring Charlie back from the dead.
