Amy Winehouse Found Dead In Her London Apartment

Police in London said Saturday night that Amy Winehouse, the troubled diva who had struggled with drug and alcohol abuse, has been found dead at her home in London. Police confirmed that a 27-year-old female was pronounced dead at the home in Camden Square in northern London. They said they were treating the death as unexplained. TMZ is reporting that Scotland Yard indicates there were no signs of foul play. An autopsy has been scheduled for tomorrow.

Winehouse matched her considerable vocal talents with a voracious appetite for drug, so her premature death really shouldn’t come as any surprise. It’s a terrible tragedy for her family and fans, but one even a disinterested outsider could see coming from a mile away. See more of Winehouse here and here (NSFW).

  • So sad.

Well, she didn’t want to go to rehab. No no no. But, this is really seriously sad here. She joins Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin, all great talents who checked out at age 27, as well. And that’s so sad. Having issued just two albums, FRANK(2003) and BACK TO BACK(2006), I deeply appreciated both albums and wished to hear more from her. But, her life just lacked any discipline  to stay away from drugs and concentrate on music. This should serve as a real shot across the bow to bad girls Britney Spears, Taylor Momsen and Lindsay Lohan to better behave themselves. Sometimes your luck just runs out….

  • And sometimes you stretch it so far that it snaps.   Usually you get warning twangs – and you can’t say she didn’t have plenty of those – but if you ignore them then what happens, happens.

It’s a pity – but… (shrug)  Hate to sound heartless, but nobody forced her to live her lifestyle.  Guess she figured she had an image to live up to – and she died trying to match it.
