Britney’s upcoming concert tour has met with some publicity already when Enrique Iglesias backed out of touring with her. It is rumored that Iglesias backed out because his ego wouldn’t allow him to open for Britney on tour.
Nicki Minaj currently has two singles in the Billboard Top 100: Moment 4 Life and Did IT On’em and is on tour with Lil Wayne for another month. Minaj is a much better fit for an opening act for Spears according to those involved in the tour because she will create more heat on the tour and does not have the ego issues that Enrique Iglesias did.
Also, given the name of tour, which is Femme Fatale, Minaj just fits the bill better. The new opener also makes more musical sense, since Spears’ music has increasingly incorporated R&B elements. Whether or not Spears and Minaj will collaborate on any future tracks, as Spears is doing with Rihanna, is unclear yet.
Speculation about the two divas touring together began after Enrique backed out of the tour, and the two have been in serious negotiation since then. Nicki has said on several occasions that the only other artist she would like to work with is Britney Spears. She said that other than collaborating with Britney, she doesn’t want to do any more collaborating for the next two years.
The Femme Fatale tour is set to begin on June 17 in Sacramento with two girls that are sure to give a great show.
