Alec Baldwin and Kevin Spacey got kicked off the Congressional schedule in favor of Congress trying to come up with a budget to avoid a government shut-down. Read about it below.
Kevin Spacey and Alec Baldwin were in Washington, D.C. for Arts Advocacy Day Congressional Arts Kick-off on Capitol Hill. They were scheduled to testify before Congress about the need for funding for the National Endowment for the Arts. Unfortunately for them, and probably fortunately for the country, Congress decided they had more important matters to attend to, like coming up with a budget. Having a budget is something Congress has not managed to do for the last couple of years.
I’m all about funding the arts, but our country is broke and the last couple of years have only made our situation worse. There needs to be some serious attention paid to the national budget to get the national debt under control and get us out of the inflation we are experiencing. I mean, have you been to the grocery store lately or filled your tank up with gas. It. Is. Out. Of. Control.
So the actors got bumped in favor of more pressing issues.
All was not lost thought. Kevin Spacey visited wounded troops at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and posted some picture of himself riding his bicycle in front of the White House on Twitter and Alec Baldwin got to make some Charlie Sheen jokes.
