The NFL’s oldest cheerleader, Laura Vikmanis, is set to get her own biopic!
Cincinnati Bengals cheerleader Laura Vikmanis holds the title of oldest cheerleader in the NFL at 42 years old, and will be the topic of a new movie. Yup. That photo is of a 42 year old mother of two. Damn.
Laura is 20 years older than most of her Ben-Gals squad-mates, but that doesn’t slow her down one bit. She’s out there every Sunday back-flipping, dancing, and looking just as sexy as the other ladies. Talk about a MILF, right?
The film project doesn’t have a name yet, but it does have a studio and writers. New Line Cinema bought the rights to Laura’s life story, and Gnomeo and Juliet writers Emily Cook and Kathy Greenberg have been tapped to write the script. Cook told the Hollywood Reporter:
“She is a 42 year old in a sea of 20 year olds; she’s definitely a fish out of water. It’s a great contrast. And she proved you can reinvent yourself at any age.”
Laura, from Springboro, Ohio, is a registered dietitian and fitness fanatic (really? I couldn’t tell), and didn’t decide to try out for the squad until she was almost 40 (!!). She missed the cut when she first tried out in 2008, which only made her more determined. She trained hard for a year, and made the cut in 2009. Hellz yeah, Laura!
Her daughters, Lila, 14, and Alexa, 12, are also cheerleaders at their school. Like mother like daughter.
Laura told her hometown paper, the Dayton Daily News:
“I look at myself as a role model for my children to show them no matter what age or what dram you have, you can work really hard and achieve it.”
Way to be awesome and show up a bunch of 20-somethings, Laura. Kick ass.
