Actress Amy Adams has been cast as the next Lois Lane in the upcoming Superman movie.
Fresh off her Oscar nomination for Fighter, Amy has been cast as Daily Planet journalist and Superman love interest Lois Lane in the upcoming Zach Snyder Superman flick.
Snyder had this to say to the LA Times about 36 year old Amy:
“There was a big, giant search for Lois. It was obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.”
The role of the man of steel was given to Henry Cavill of Tudors fame earlier this year.
Snyder has been hush hush about the plot, but he has stated that Lois will be a “linchpin” in the film:
“It goes back to what I’ve said about Superman and making him relevant and empathetic to today’s audience. That applies to Lois as well. She has to be in the same universe as him.”
Superman is set to hit theaters in 2012.
