Comedian George Lopez should be SO ashamed of himself. He compared Kirstie Alley to a dancing pig after her DWTS performance. He later apologized (sort of) by saying it didn’t go over like he meant it. Well, how else could you mean that! You can watch the video of her cha-cha with Maksim Chmerkovskiy below.
I can’t begin to imagine the guts it would take to do a show like Dancing With the Stars under the best of circumstances. But if you have some kind of physical issue that has been the brunt of jokes for YEARS then I would say its a pretty gutsy move. Not to mention she’s 60-years-old and in spite of her weight, looks and moves a lot younger than her years.
That’s the case with someone like actress Kirstie Alley. Once considered beautiful, she gained a lot of weight and has publicly struggled with her weight over the last few years. When she agreed to do Dancing With the Stars she said she hoped it would jump-start her into losing weight and getting back into shape. Good for her! I’m cheering her on and hope she is able to do just that.
Unfortunately, some people find the fact that she is putting herself ‘out there’ in spite of her weight problem as opportunity to make jokes at her expense. Take so-called comedian George Lopez who instead of being funny, just came across as MEAN.
Here’s what he said. He said Alley ‘did a nice job, her little hooves tapping away. Before the show, she went to the market, and then she had roast beef and this is her going all the way home!” he said, before cutting to a squealing pig from a GEICO commercial.’
How awful is THAT?!?!
I probably don’t have to tell you that this little not-so-friendly tete-a-tete is now playing out on Twitter (don’t they all).
Kirstie Alley hit back with ‘Don’t worry about George’s comments. Just remember what happens to the big bad, drunk woolf …falls in a boiling pot of vodka. Piggy laughs.’
Now Lopez is trying to apologize on his Twitter account: ‘I misjudged the joke. No malice was intended and I apologize to Kirstie.’
‘I misjudged the joke’ is code for ‘Boy that blew up in my face. I better hurry up and figure out how I’m going to dig my way out of this fine mess I’ve made’. Make a note to yourself George, mean doesn’t go over that well.
George Lopez needs to save his mean jokes for when HE’s got the nerve to get out there and try to dance in front of the whole world. No one would have a problem with that.
Okay. Now I have that off my chest. Below are the video of Kirstie Alley doing the cha-cha with her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Check it out – that ain’t no DANCING PIG! She did a great job. So there!
