So there you have it. THE wedding invitation of the year, probably the decade or more. It was sent from the office of the Lord Chamberlain, he is the man who makes sure that the invitations are gotten to the right people. They were sent out on this past Wednesday and Thursday.
If you are looking for one in your mailbox you are probably looking in vain. There are 1,900 guests on the list of ‘right people’ that are to get invitations. Those people include family, friends, other royals, prime ministers, leaders of charitable organizations, school friends of Prince William and Kate Middleton, 30 members the British armed forces who are probably from William’s Royal Air Force search-and-rescue unit. Unless you are in one of those categories you are probably not on the list of ‘right people’. But you never know!
The Lord Chamberlain is commanded by The Queen to invite: to the Marriage of His Royal Highness Prince William of Wales, K.G. with Miss Catherine Middleton at Westminster Abbey on Friday, 29th April 2011 at 11.00
Notably left off the list of guests is the scandal-ridden Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York. However, her two daughters, cousins to Prince William, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, are expected to have been invited and to attend the nuptials.
Guests are requested to wear military attire, tailcoats or business suits to the April 29th wedding, which will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Westminster Abbey. About 600 of the guests have been invited to a lunch reception hosted by the Queen in honor of Prince William and Kate Middleton. There will be a formal wedding dinner and dance following the wedding at Buckingham Palace to which 300 guests are invited.
