American blues singer Marvin Sease died earlier today in Vicksburg, Mississippi. The cause of his death is not yet known, but there is speculation that he died of pneumonia.
Sease was born in Blackville, South Carolina and started out as a gospel singer as part of the the group The Five Gospel Crowns. He moved to New York City and started the R&B group Sease with his three brothers.
The band didn’t find much success and disbanded a few years later. He later went solo working at a Brooklyn club Casablanca. His solo hits included ‘Ghetto Man’ and ‘Candy Licker’.
R.I.P. Marvin Sease. Dead today just a few days shy of his 64th birthday.
