President Barack Obama had to get stitches yesterday after getting elbowed in the mouth during a pick-up basketball game. The elbower has been identified as Rey Decerega, Director of Programs for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. He said that he learned ‘the President is both a tough competitor and a good sport.’ Obama got a boo-boo and ended up with 12 stitches in his mouth.
President Barack Obama was whisked off the basketball court with a bloody upper lip after he was elbowed in a pick-up basketball game by Rey Decerega, Director of Programs for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. He ended up requiring 12 stitches in his upper lip.
The White House issued a statement saying that they used a special kind of fiber for the stitches so it’ll leave a smaller scar.
The White House announced the culprit who elbowed Obama in the lip earlier today: Rey Decerega, who is the director of programs for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute.
Decerega said in a statement that the game was all in good fun (and didn’t apologize):
“I learned today the president is both a tough competitor and a good sport. I enjoyed playing basketball with him this morning. I’m sure he’ll be back out on the court again soon,” Decerega said.
