Ronni Chasen is a well known Hollywood publicist who was shot to death in Beverly Hills early this morning. She was shot five times in the chest while driving her Mercedes-Benz E350 sedan on Sunset Boulevard at about 12:30 a.m.
Ronni Chasen has been in the public relations business in Hollywood since the 1970s. She owned Chasen and Co., her PR firm and was well known in show business. She was the publicist for On Golden Pond, Driving Miss Daisy, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and the 1997 Lolita. She also worked the Oscar campaign for Michael Douglas’ Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.
The 64-year-old Chasen was killed last night in what appears to have been an execution-type murder. She was shot five times in the chest before crashing her Mercedes into a light pole.
People in the houses near the crash found her. Nahid Shekarchain lives near the scene of the shooting says she heard gunshots shortly after midnight last night. She went out and found Ronni Chasen with blood on her chest and pouring out of her nose. The passenger side window of her car had been shattered.
She died a short time later at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
There are reports that Ronni Chasen had walked the red carpet for the premier of ‘Burlesque’ at Graumann’s Chinese Theater on Monday night. She was reportedly with Diane Warren, her client who wrote the song ‘You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me’, which Cher sang in the film.
The Ronni Chasen murder is under investigation. Police Lt. Tony Lee has said there are no suspects are motive known at this time.
