In the wake of her mother’s death on Friday, Lily Kabe cancels her Broadway performance to grieve her mother, Jill Clayburgh.
Lily Rabe has taken a leave of absence from her performances in Shakespere’s A Merchant of Venice to mourn the death of her mother, Jill Clayburgh who died on Friday, November 5, after a 21-year struggle with leukemia.
Lily Rabe is the daughter of Clayburgh and playwright David Rabe. Clayburgh died at her home in Connecticut. She was 66-years-old.
The show’s opening day has been postponed and Rabe’s understudy will fill in for her until she returns. She is appearing in A Merchant of Venice with Al Pacino, who was her mother’s lover for 5-years before she married Kabe in 1978. Clayburgh and Pacino remained friends after they broke-up.
