Are Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt bankrupt? Apparently they owe $2 million in taxes and have blown $10 million on a luxury lifestyle. They are together again after they split in April, but they have an uphill climb to get out of the financial trouble they have gotten themselves into.
Now that Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt have rekindled their relationship after the couple split in April. Now they are having to downgrade their life-style a bit after blowing $10 million on renting a $35,000-a-month Malibu home, $3 million on Heidi’s failed music career, buying 6 cars, private jets and cosmetic surgery for Heidi. Now they owe $2 million in taxes they can’t pay.
They are now homeless and living in Spencer Pratt’s parents basement.
They take a pretty pragmatic attitude about the situation and seem to be doing a little reflection on how they’ve lived their lives. Spencer says,
We were immature, worrying too much about the famous part instead of the actual business part. In hindsight, we shouldn’t have spent any of our money. We should have been low-key and saved.
We spoke with a bankruptcy attorney and I’ve looked into unemployment checks.
Heidi Montag says she was considering posing for Playboy until Spencer’s parents threw them a life-line. His parents go to the grocery store for them once a week and they have to live with what they get from that one trip to the store.
They blame their downfall on unrealized expectations for the success of ‘The Hills’. They weren’t prepared when the show was canceled after not being able to compete against ‘Jersey Shore’.
Even though Montag and Pratt are facing bankruptcy, they don’t want sympathy. Spencer says:
We don’t want sympathy. We did this to ourselves and feel like idiots. But we’ve grown up and are definitely not as naive anymore.
