Actress Lisa Blount is dead at 53. She was found dead in her home in Little Rock Arkansas earlier today. She is probably best known for her role as Debra Winger’s best friend in ‘An Officer and a Gentleman’.
Lisa Blount won a Golden Globe award for her 1982 role in ‘An Officer and a Gentleman’. She later won an Oscar along with her husband Roy McKinnon for their live-action short film ‘The Accountant’ in 2002.
Her mother found her in her bedroom earlier today. She told RadarOnline that Blount had been suffering from Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) for the past 17-years. She had moved back to her home state of Arkansas in 2005 because her health was deteriorating. ITP is a blood disorder that causes the blood not to clot leading to excessive bleeding and bruising. The coroner reported that she most likely had died on Monday.

RIP Lisa Blount.
