The former owner of a 180-year-old adobe building hears the door of a potbellied stove opening and wood being stacked inside, but no one is there. Mysterious whispers echo in the current owner's ear. Things fall off shelves for no apparent reason.
"The creepiest I had was a voice whisper in my ear," says Josh Bond, owner of the Old Cuchillo Bar in the southern New Mexico ghost town of the same name. Josh has asked the West Coast Ghost and Paranormal Society to investigate on his property.
Andy Rice, who started WCGAPS about two years ago after investigating more than 200 supposed hauntings and ghosts over more than 13 years, said the group tries to explain the mysteries their clients relate to them using science or common sense.
Only about 5 percent of the group's investigations can't be explained by electromagnetic radiation, thin walls, faulty wiring, lights from passing cars or other normal explanations, said Rice, who called his investigators not ghost hunters, but ghost debunkers.
Bond seemed ambivalent about whether the property is haunted.
"These people claim to debunk it scientifically. I write it off to coincidence many times in my mind, but I'd like to see it proved scientifically," he said.
Rice said he's not out to persuade people to believe in the paranormal.
"Until they have a personal experience, I cannot change someone's belief," he said. "I don't take the time to try to convince them, because it is a useless argument."

I would leave for work in the morning and he would lay next to my wife in the bed, but nothing other than that happened. One was frightened (of us - !), one was oblivious to us, and the third my buddy called 'the trickster'. He (?) liked to startle people by opening doors and jumping out. While we never saw him, the feeling is unmistakeable. Your skin gets cold, the hair stands up on the back of your neck, gooseflesh covers your body. If you are attuned to yourself, you will notice an uneasy inner feeling that many people interpret as and allow to gtow into fear. I interpret it more as recognition, of that part within me that might one day be 'the trickster'.

Some of you scoff and make fun but that's okay because 7 out of 10 people have had encounters with entities from beyond.
What some of you encounter are premonitions, a psychic reading per se. Others have actually had encounters with spirits that are earthbound and others of you have had encounters with otherworldly beings. Each is different and each is surreal.
Once you learn to embrace the spirit world as Michael, Pedro and Brent did you find that each spirit has it's own personality. Some are trustworthy and just want human interaction, others, well those are the ones you don't want to ever encounter again and the others are merely trapped between worlds and can't find their way, they're literally frozen in time.
For those doubters, what do you think happens to those souls when they leave the body? You think they just die? Why should they? The soul isn't a thought process which is what you're saying when you say ghost don't exist. The soul does exist outside the body.
Those of you who do believe or have had an experience, open your mind to more, if ones visited you then others will too, if you allow it.

I agree that the whole concept of ghosts is unusual and I probably don't have the explanation, but... the day Nixon resigned was my first day of work at a new job. A co-worker told me of strange occurrences at their unexpectedly-inexpensive new home. Shadows, and (I don't remember most of the others), but a horse-head sculpture from their coffee table had previously slid out from under the front seat of their car when they stepped on the brakes. It had happened again, that morning. They considered it was the ghost of a woman who had lived there and had been found hanging in the garage.
My girlfriend and I went to her house after work and met her family consisting of her husband and teenage daughter.
I had recently read The Secret Science Behind Miracles, by Maxwell Freedom Long, written in the early 1900s and its explanation was the understanding under which I was working. The Ouija board was interesting. We had never used it before but with my girlfriend and I placing our fingers on it as lightly as possible, it moved without my direction. Logic said she must be moving it. On one occasion, however, it tipped my way, meaning even the lightest pressure I was exerting on it was greater than hers.
We recorded the letters it went to but they did not form anything recognizable.
As it got late, I finally said I would return and attempt to learn to communicate with the ghost and convey whatever messages it felt it needed to have conveyed, and I prayed aloud for God to keep this spirit from bothering these people again. The problems stopped following that visit, for two weeks. But life's other demands made it so I didn't return. The next I heard, was that the problems had resumed--including a perfume bottle which fell over on the vanity--and they were moving out.

It was very chilly in this room.
Some time later we had guests with their young son. He came running into the living room saying that the bedroom door flew open and that someone spoke to him. We investigated and found that the door was indeed open and it could not be closed as the lock was thrown.
We learned that the grandmother had committed suicide in the living room when the grandson had died. The stain was still visible in the floor. I have several other stories connected with the paranormal...no room to tell them!

No one has to believe in the paranormal and many don't. However, there are many of us who do and there are more and more everyday. I agree with those who said that it usually takes a personal experience before someone will truly believe and comprehend. I have known ghosts exist ever since I was about 8 or 9. The house I grew up in which is not really old, esp. at that time (built in 1974) had quite a bit of activity in it and does to this day. It happens mostly in cool and cold weather months for whatever reason. What most people do not realize is that it's not normally the building that is caduet for the paranormal but the land. After all, what is older than that? I grew up with 2 ghosts, a little girl and man that we presumed to be her father. They were dressed in late 1800's clothing, high neck nightgown and sleep cap for the girl (ala Laura Ingalls) and all black for the man. They never really caused problems except the man would stare at my little sister in her room and scare her. Finally after several times one night my father went to sleep in my sister's bed while she slept with my mom. As my dad was laying there he felt someone staring at him. When he turned to look he saw the man there. My dad told him to go away that this was not his family and that he was scaring my sister. Well, this made the man angry and he shoved the bed into the wall which left indentions from the frame. My dad is 6'8 and 350 lbs and I never knew him to be afraid of anything but that terrified him. So much so that he peed in the bed. But, after that we never saw them again but we continued to have little mischievious things occur. I am grown and married with kids of my own and the house I am in now has an older gentleman who we think is the grandfather of the previous owner. He has never caused any problems, just walks down the hall at night when the house is quiet. He does not bother me at all. If you don't believe, that's fine. But don't belittle those of us who do or attempt to make us look ignorant or ridiculous. There are some very intelligent people who believe in the paranormal.

This is pretty sad. Real scientists don't say that "you need to experience it to believe it"; freaking parlor psychics say that. Nor is a good scientist content to say, well, "I don't take the time to try to convince [disbelievers], because it is a useless argument." If it's useless, it's because your evidence is bad--relying on personal experience, which is notoriously unreliable. I want to believe...I really do, but until you come up with something better than "I hear voices" (up to a quarter of all people experience an auditory or visual hallucination at some point...it's not at all rare and is completely convincing). The fact that someone has something to gain, i.e. notoriety for a business, should also give someone pause and at least tickle the skeptic bone.

Hey,with all of this brain power being expended on the problem of "if ghost exist or not"you might spare a little of it on trying to solve somthing really worth while, like say...global warming or why the dinosaurs are extinct...maybe even try to find out why dogs sniff each others butts.

I have had paranormal events all my life, good and bad. There is no wat anybody can convince me there is not an afterlife or entity's. I have felt them touch me,, go through me, and seen very unusual things. I have had items disappear then reappear later in a different place. I have heard voices and the list goes on.I have a couple right here in the house I live in now. One is denomic, the other I believe to be poltergiest.
