Barack Obama is teaming up with Spider-Man in a comic from Marvel, which will see the future president exchanging a fist-bump with the superhero. The story sees one of Spidey's oldest enemies, the Chameleon, trying to stop Obama being inaugurated. Spider-Man's alter ego, Peter Parker, is covering the event as a photographer, and saves the day.
"Ya hear that, Chameleon?" Spider-Man says as he thwacks the villain in the face. "The president-elect here just appointed me ... secretary of shuttin' you up."
He tells Obama: "This is your day, and I know it wouldn't look good to be seen palling around with me" - in a nod to Sarah Palin's comment that Obama had been "palling around with terrorists".
"When we heard that president-elect Obama is a collector of Spider-Man comics, we knew that these two historic figures had to meet in our comics' Marvel Universe," said the publisher's editor-in-chief, Joe Quesada.

Its unfortunate that the past icons like this are at the mercy of whatever smucks happen to take over.

jpm,
Stan Lee is a flaming leftist, remember a few years ago he killed off Captain America, Superman was "Truth, justice and... all that other stuff."
We let it happen.

Hey, Stan Lee is an amazing man, flaming him just makes you look whiny. And since when is thinking, acting or being different from someone else a bad thing? I think the comic is a fantastic idea and will become another part of Stan Lee history.

Stan Lee is a comic book genius, however, he's lost much of the appeal he used to hold for me when he started to believe Horrywood values were what most of America wanted to see in it's "superheroes". I'd like to see a return of truth, justice, and the American Way in comic books. How about a return of Sgt. Rock, hell, it ain't like you couldn't use Brad Kasal for the pattern. Even pronounces it "castle", it's a perfect match. Maybe Brian Chontosh, Pat Tillman, Michael Monsoor, or Paul Smith could be used. It's not like we don't have heroes that are more than the average "joe on the street" to look up to, just that nobody knows what they've done. Let's put their stories in comic book form. I'd pay for a copy for my kids.
