- Oprah Winfrey's production company has signed a deal to make movies, documentaries and series for cable channel HBO, Harpo Films and HBO said on Tuesday. No details of projects in the multiyear exclusive deal were released.
- Jessica Alba and Jack Black are set to guest star in the upcoming post Super Bowl episode of "The Office." In the ep some of the office workers try to secretly watch a bootlegged Hollywood movie during the workday. Alba and Jack Black will play characters in the bootleg movie.
- ABC has released another sneak peek clip from Lost's "Because You Left," Season Five's premiere episode, airing January 21st. This clip features Jack and Ben talking about the passengers who stayed on the island. Watch it here.
- "Blade" helmer Stephen Norrington is taking on the task of remaking "The Crow". Variety reports he has signed on for directing duties even though short after "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" effectively destroyed his career he swore never to return to Hollywood.
- The St. Paul, Minnesota theater group behind the popular "A Klingon Christmas Carol" will soon be filming a special feature for the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country', which is timed to coincide with the May release of the new "Star Trek" film. The group will perform Shakespeare's "Hamlet", replacing the characters with Klingons from the series.
- The former hit man for a Boston crime family may soon see his sordid life story on the big screen. John V. Martorano pleaded guilty in 1999 to killing 20 people in exchange for becoming a government witness. Now he's sold the rights to his mob tale for an undisclosed sum to Graham King of GK Films in Santa Monica, Calif.
- "Twilight" fans have a short wait for the next installment of the vampire saga. Summit Entertainment spokesman Paul Pflug says "New Moon" is following just 12 months after the first movie, opening Nov. 20, 2009, over the same weekend as "Twilight" this year.
