- DreamWorks Animation has officially confirmed that a sequel to its animated hit "Kung Fu Panda" is in the works and has set a release date of June 3, 2011. The film will be in 3-D and Jack Black and Angelina Jolie will reprise their roles.
- Warner Bros. Pictures is developing a feature version of "Yogi Bear," the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon, and Surf's Up co-helmer/co-writer Ash Brannon is attached to direct.
- The Screen Actors Guild passed a resolution seeking the endorsement of SAG's national board for guild members to vote on whether to call a work stoppage. If it passes it will be the second halt this year.
- Kirsten Dunst tells MTV that she's agreed to reprise her role as Mary-Jane Watson for a fourth "Spider-Man" movie. Originally, Dunst, Tobey Maguire and director Sam Raimi said there would be no more Spidey adventures for them post-"Spider-Man 3".
- Paramount Pictures will adapt "I Heard You Paint Houses," the book about the mob assassin believed to be involved in Jimmy Hoffa's death. Martin Scorsese is attached to direct. Robert De Niro will play Frank "the Irishman" Sheeran, who is reputed to have carried out more than 25 mob murders.
- Rumors are ramped that Ricky Gervais will host the Academy Awards this year. As one of the only bright spots in a bleak Emmy's show it's understandable why but Academy Awards producers say no official calls have been made as of this time.
