- Wes Anderson will write/direct My Best Friend, a remake of the 2006 Patrice Leconte-directed French comedy Mon meilleur ami. The film is about a cranky antiques dealer who learns none of his closest acquaintances really like him. When his business partner bets him he can't produce a best friend, the dealer gets an amiable cab driver to pose as his buddy.
- Paramount Pictures has made a deal with Wildbrain to turn its Kidrobot branded collectible character creations into a series of feature films that will be a mix of animation and live action. The creatures come with no linear storyline, so the plan is to draft a writer for pen a story about ordinary kids who are transported into the edgy world populated by the Kidrobot creatures.
- Val Kilmer, Armand Assante, Eric Roberts, Megan Brown and Patrick Muldoon will star in indie suspense thriller The Steam Experiment. The feature revolves around six people trapped and terrorized in an urban Turkish bathhouse.
- New Line Cinema plans to make a romantic comedy based on hockey player Sean Avery's internship at Mens Vogue. When last season ended, Avery was assigned by Anna Wintour to guest-edit MensVogue.com, and met his fashion-circle girlfriend Kelly Klein.
- Millennium/Nu-Image has hired Sylvester Stallone to pen a 6th installment of Rambo. The 5th installment has already been written and is rumored to begin shooting next year in Bulgaria, though set in the United States.
- A spoof movie that spoofs spoof movies? "Not Another Not Another Movie", from director David Murphy, fixes on a movie studio that's willing to do anything to make a mint - even if it means ruining their reputation, and running the business into the ground. The ensemble cast includes Chevy Chase, Michael Madsen and Burt Reynolds.
