Movie, TV and Industry Update

NBC has hired Val Kilmer to replace Will Arnett as the voice of KITT on its "Knight Rider" revival. Seems that GM wasn't none too happy to learn Arnett (who has been the voice over man for GM for 10 years) would be acting as the voice of a Ford Mustang. NR is slated to debut on NBC on Sunday, February 17 at 9/8c.

Dominic Monaghan, who plays Charlie Pace on the series "Lost," has landed the lead role in the psychological thriller "Pet" for MGM. Monaghan will play Seth, a man who bumps into his old high school crush and becomes obsessed with her. He takes her captive underneath the animal shelter where he works but soon suspects that his old flame is not who she seems to be.

"Heroes" star Hayden Panettiere has signed on for the teenage comedy "Daydream Nation." Kieran Culkin ("The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys," "Igby Goes Down") is in negotiations to star as well. Panettiere will play an acerbic teen, and Culkin will portray her oblivious boyfriend.

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins director McG hinted that No Country for Old Men star Josh Brolin might play the new Terminator opposite Christian Bale's John Connor. The fourth film will take place "post Judgment day.

Michael Douglas, Amber Tamblyn and Jesse Metcalfe have been cast in "Beyond a Reasonable Doubt," a remake of a Fritz Lang RKO film noir. "Doubt" follows a journalist (Metcalfe) who seeks to expose a corrupt district attorney (Douglas) by setting himself up as the suspect in a murder he didn't commit. His plan backfires when the district attorney discovers the setup and gets rid of the evidence the journalist has amassed to prove his innocence.

"Dirt" and "Riches" get less of FX's schedule this year. Due to the writers' strike, FX has opted not to produce more episodes for the two series' second seasons. It is understood that FX's decision to cut back the episode order on "Dirt" and "The Riches" stems from economic reasons and does not affect the two series' chances for third-season renewal.
