- Strange casting news as Sienna Miller gets a starring role in G.I. Joe. That makes her... G.I. Jane? Variety says Miller ("Alfie", "Stardust") will play ... a raven-haired baroness and sexy femme fatale skilled in espionage".
- Peter Jackson's adaptation of Alice Sebold's best selling novel The Lovely Bones will hit theaters on March 13th 2009.
- Fox2000's Marley and Me has been scheduled for a December 19th 2008 release. Owen Wison and Jenifer Aniston are still slated as the leads.
- The strike has killed two more projects. Johnny Depp's "Shantaram," the Mira Nair-directed adaptation of the Gregory David Roberts novel, and "Nine", the Rob Marshall-directed musical that was slated to start production in March with Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Sophia Loren and Marion Cotillard starring.
- Sean Penn will play Harvey Milk in the Gus Van Sant directed film, titled 'Milk', about the late gay-rights activist.
- The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced that 15 films in the Documentary Feature category will advance in the voting process for the 80th Academy Awards®. Seventy pictures had originally qualified in the category.
