Vogue September. Like the phone book but with more ads...

At 727 advertising pages, September Vogue sets the record as the most advertising pages ever published in a monthly consumer magazine. This year, the 115-year old magazine surpasses its own previous records with a total of 840 pages, weighing 4 pounds, 9 ounces. Vogue Publishing Director Tom Florio says September Vogue generated an extraordinary amount of advertising due in part to the debut of ShopVogue.TV, the video online shopping and entertainment network which debuts today.

If September's "Vogue" is 840 pages, and 727 of them are adverts, shouldn't the magazine be sold at a discount?
I love how the cover says 840 pages of fearless fashion when, in fact, I'm getting exactly 113 pages of content created by something other than their advertizers (how much of that is Table of Contents, Editor's Note, and Contributors?). As cirby wrote, that a pretty measely content-to-advert ratio.

And sorry (NOT!) to Anna Wintour, but the issue is boring. Staid, knit-witted (the section on handknit pieces is hilarious, and not in a good way), and dull. The cover feature with Sienna in Rome for the Valentino Anniversary was lovely, but a rare bright spot in an otherwise moribund publication.
