According to an April 20 article on Philly.com, the website of The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Big Talker 1210 AM morning show of Daily News columnist Michael Smerconish is to be simulcast Monday through Wednesday on MSNBC, the network confirmed Friday.
The show will air on MSNBC from 6 to 9 a.m. That slot until last week belonged to radio host Don Imus. MSNBC fired Imus April 11 over the controversy following his on-air comments about the Rutgers women's basketball team.
On April 12, CBS Radio followed suit and dumped Imus's syndicated radio program.
Smerconish announced Friday that his guests Monday will include comedian Jackie Mason, Nicetown native and MSNBC host Chris Matthews, terrorism expert Richard Clarke and Jon Anderson from the band Yes, singing live in studio.

I have been an Imus listener for 5 years and even though I did not like the silly part of the show and wasn't crazy about Imus's grouchy personality it was an enlightening show regarding the authors, journalists, politicians etc. I think Michael is doing a good job a little fast paced for my taste but varied enough to keep me interested. I think he needs to watch some of the Imus shows to see how he handled the N.Y. news and the turnover to the radio show so smoothly. He also needs to have a more partisan group of guests. Everyone knows he is Republican but he will do better to be more even handed.

I agree with the comment posted above by "Bobbie". However, I do not believe the show was paced too fast. Since Michael does not want to leave Philadelphia, perhaps the show can be broadcast on MSNBC from Philadelphia which would give a wider range of input to the audience rather than just the NYC area. Hopefully, MSNBC will bring Michael back.
