As a former anorexic, I hope people won't blame the victim. This is a horrible disease and there isn't a simplistic reason though of course, cultural influences play a part. However, anorexia goes much deeper. I send my condolences to her family.

As a woman in recovery from anorexia and bulimia I am so sad to know another bright light has been taken from us by this disease. Most people don't know that anorexia is a severe psychiatric condition that is very often life threatening. It's not a simple reflection of somebody who wants to be thin. It's a disease that requires intensive, on going treatment -- treatment that most of those who are afflicted refuse. Take care of your children, keep an eye on your friends. The more they protest that things are fine, the more you must suspect that they are not. May this lovely woman rest in peace.
