I'd like to get on record with a prediction: Yes, The Dixie Chicks new album sold well out of the gate...some 540,000 copies the first week. That's great, no bones about it.
It's Howard Stern Syndrome. The faithful flock to Howard's every move and pump him up in the short term, but long-term there's no sustained interest. Howard doesn't have the biggest selling book in Simon & Schuster's history, he has the fastest selling book in Simon & Schuster's history.
I predict the same for the Chicks. Meteoric rise, meteoric fall. This album will go down the charts faster than Bush's approval rating. When it does, all the entertainment blogs and lefty blogs that are trumpeting the DixChix success today will stop talking about it altogether and pretend it never happened.
Why will it fall? Because radical leftists, who are now the fan base for the Chicks, are the most fickle people in the world, and something shiny will get their attention next week. Meanwhile, the country fans who made the Chicks a household name will never come back. Not because of the politics...because the Chicks insulted them over and over and over.
I'm just sayin'. Don't bite the hand that feeds you and then cry when the food stops.

Jim,
I was never a fan of DC to begin with, but I think you are correct.
