Personally, I think that the best piece of art that Cobain ever produced was the wall behind his head after he shot himself. It was performance art. He didn't need an audience. Genius!

Oh my, what an insightful albeit unoriginal thought you added, Jeremy.
Cobain's influence will be felt for years; he was a clever lyricist -- a quality greatly missed in music today.
"Give me a Leonard Cohen afterworld
So I can sigh eternally"

Probably was a bit harsh on Mr. Cobain's memory there. Sorry about that. But he was no poet, and barely an artist.

Well, I know David Bowie, Neil Young and Lou Reed were fans of Cobain's song writing and I put some stock in their opinions, they certainly know a thing or two about the art.
Quoting SLTS I'd go with another line....
I'm worse at what I do best
And for this gift I feel blessed
or better yet, from In Utero's "Dumb"
Skin the sun
Fall asleep
Wish away
The soul is cheap
Lesson learned
Wish me luck
Soothe the burn
Wake me up
Poetic? Kurt was messy and off balance at times but when it clicked just right it worked wonderfully.

Ok...this is for that Jeremy guy...
for one...you've shown your ignorance on the matter...because there was no exit wound...so you just look like a dick!
2...Kurt was THE ULTIMATE artist...not only did he write songs and play music (since the age of 2) but he was also a very talented story writer and poet...not to mention the many cartoons and drawings he did. He created many paintings, collages, and sculptures. He also created all Nirvana's videos from sketches in his notebooks. He created every from of art that you can think of! So the next time you want to leave a comment about Kurt Cobain...you shouldn't just blindly talk out of your ass...cause you come across as a fucking moron!

I dream about him A LOT. like we're rocking out onstage and then courtney comes out and starts to sing and he huddles in a corner. She doesn't do any offensive moves he looks, scared.
And he basically means the world to me without him, i'd probably be dead right now.

Kurt Cobain was a pioneer in thought provokeing music. I think you either got it or you didn't. The genius in Kurt was his melodic sensibilities, combined with the fact Nirvana had there own sound, not a riff that they worked into every song so you would know who was playing like some popular bands do to get there own sound. Each song was entirely its own experience with feeling. It didn't neccesarily have to be in the lyrics, but in the sound Nirvana created. I knoe there are alot of new Nirvana fans and they feel the music, but back in the day we didn't have SUM 41, Green Day etc. Radio, as well as Much Music and MTV played alot of glorified Arena Rock,Hair Metal, and arrangment style music with a lead singer. So when actual music written ,played with real instrument by real people with real emotions entered the foreground there was a movement. A movement which I frankly can see happening soon because of all the crap music that is available now. I think for now I will play my NIRVANA until something genuine comes along.
