Flying a huge American flag from its mast, the guided missile cruiser USS Anzio led nearly a dozen Navy ships and Coast Guard craft up New York Harbor on Wednesday to open the city's 19th annual Fleet Week observance. Some 4,000 sailors and Marines were expected to spend time -- and money -- taking in Gotham's sights and sounds over the next week. They were chosen for having served recently in Iraq.The biggest entry in this year's group is the USS Kearsarge, a 40,500-ton amphibious assault ship that carries a crew of 1,000, a contingent of 1,800 combat-ready Marines and a variety of helicopters and jump-jet attack aircraft.
