Before you waste $8.50 or more on this weekend's Big Summer Movie Release (Poseidon, that is), why not watch the original version. I guarantee you'll enjoy it more.
One of the reviewers on IMDB notes that Poseidon is only 99 minutes long, including a nine-minute end-credits sequence. I'm sorry, but I can't justify paying $8.50 for a movie that short unless it's going to be really, really good. And I've already paid for AMC anyway.
What's up with movies being so short these days anyway? I don't feel you can adequately develop characters and also have a decent plot in under 90 minutes. Why skimp on something that's supposed to be a summer blockbuster?
Actually, I know why: so when the inevitable two-disc DVD comes out in four months, they have plenty of deleted scenes (one of the major reasons people rent/buy DVDs) to take up space. And on that note... you can fit four hours of video on a single DVD. Most films are 90-120 minutes. Why do you need an entire extra DVD for features no one watches anyway?
We all know why. I'm just saying, it's unnecessary. Except for really long movies, that is, like Titanic or Gone With The Wind.
Josh Cohen is more likely to be seen on Wizbang! Sports or Bomb Squad, but most likely to be seen at Multiple Mentality.
