Just because she happens to have a number one single, a triple platinum album and one of the best shoe collections this side of Imelda Marcos' Swiss safe deposit box does NOT mean that she should automatically be allowed to make another movie.

For those of us fortunate enough to have not experienced PTSD as a result of viewing Glitter, Mariah Carey's got something else planned for you.
Do Mariah Carey and movies belong together? Apparently, producer Lee Daniels (Monster's Ball) thinks so, as he's cast the pop star in the indie drama Tennessee, in which she'll play a waitress who tries to locate her long-lost father after her brother is diagnosed with leukemia. Daniels told Variety that he'd never seen Carey's 2001 debacle Glitter (well, duh!), but that her recent musical comeback and her work in 2002's Wisegirls convinced him she was right for the part.
Okay, everyone deserves a second chance and the opportunity to try their hand at good wholesome family entertainment, but like Iran and nuclear weapons, sometimes you just haven't built up the trust necessary for the rest of the world to give you the benefit of the doubt. The world must make a value judgment here. It may be better to err on the side of caution.
Perhaps someone can convince the United Nations that this is worth a resolution or two.

I'lll give her the benefit of the doubt, if there's not much dialogue, a swimsuit, and a personal trainer.
And oil. Let's not forget the oil.
