While it seems that the entertainment world seems to have shut down for this "something bowl" or whatever it's called, I was able to find something going on in the sports world. It's the Arena Football League, people. Probably the only chance you're going to have to see and football for a while.
The folks over at Deadspin had this to say about the outrageous scheduling of games:
The Colorado Crush and Georgia Force are playing today in a rematch of the last Arena Bowl, but I don't get to see that. NBC has decided instead to show me the Los Angeles Avengers and the Philadelphia Soul, and if Bon Jovi didn't own the Soul, I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be happening.
But despite the fact that the Soul are 11 point favorites, there is a little intrigue. In a situation reminiscent of the New York Giants playing a game after owner Wellington Mara died, the Soul play today with heavy hearts as Richie Sambora and Heather Locklear have announced their divorce. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Bon Jovi and the Soul during this difficult time.
Living in Georgia (the entertainment mecca that it is), I was able to see the game, and let me tell you, watching -- WAIT, RICHIE SAMBORA AND HEATHER LOCKLEAR HAVE ANNOUNCED THEIR DIVORCE?!?!? How did I miss that?
